Maui Anesthesia Seminar

Maui Wildfire Updates

Updated December 19, 2023

It's very important to get your lodging booked immediately at the Hyatt Regency Maui, as we only have a few rooms left.  Many hotels are housing displaced families from the fire, so rooms are tighter than ever this year and we don't want you to miss out!

The devastating news of the destruction of Maui's Lahaina town from the wildfires has been heart-wrenching.  We know so many of you have questions, and we thank you for your patience as we've been gathering information and allowing some space for them to deal with the situation.  We are happy to report Ka'anapali Beach and the resorts there were unaffected by the wildfires, and the West Maui community and resorts will fully re-open to guests and groups by November 1.  The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa will re-open on November 1.  Which means the Maui Anesthesia 2024 Seminar will take place!  They are already welcoming tourists back to West Maui, and many locals will need those tourist dollars to get by and rebuild.  We have heard from the Hyatt Regency and many locals that they very much want our group to still come, and that the best way to support the community is by coming to Maui and spending money on the island.  The governor also recently reiterated this as well.  With Lahaina town missing, some things won't be the same, but we can share some Aloha back to the West Maui community and enjoy Ka'anapali and the other parts of Maui.  So, let's support our Magical Maui by showing up!

Update from the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort Management

As the Maui Anesthesia Conference draws closer, we want to provide you with an important update concerning recent developments.  Due to an unfortunate and devastating wildfire in Lahaina Town, the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa has temporarily closed its doors to visitors to focus on caring for their Maui community and assisting official agencies with relief efforts.  We understand that this situation has led to questions and concerns, and I want to assure you that we are actively addressing the matter to ensure a successful event experience. Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa is currently set to re-open on October 29th, 2023.  Our team, in partnership with the resort, is working closely to make the Maui Anestheisa Conference a seamless and memorable occasion, while prioritizing the well-being of all attendees, associates, and the local community.

The wildfires have affected the region in many ways and may have raised uncertainties about travel to Maui. However, your event plays a part in contributing to the recovery of the island.  Therefore, we kindly encourage you to keep your plans.  By choosing to move forward with your attendance, you are supporting the local economy and well-being of the area.  Your presence extends beyond the event itself and has a positive impact on the livelihoods of the people who call Maui home.

Even in these challenging times, the kindness and dedication of the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa team persists and they look forward to welcoming you with genuine Hawaiian hospitality.  The colleagues at Hyatt Regency Maui Resort have been working tirelessly to provide support and essential resources and aid to their community.  In the spirit of Aloha, we will work together alongside the resort to not only provide you with an outstanding experience, but to also support moving the town toward recovery.  Engaging in volunteer opportunities or participating in local initiatives offers a meaningful way to support the community that welcomes us.  If you're interested in contributing further or getting involved in recovery efforts, please contact the hotel.

We appreciate your understanding and flexibility during these unprecedented times.  Your participation is deeply valued, and we look forward to delivering an event that not only meets but also exceeds your expectations at the re-opened Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa.

Quote from Group That Recently Held Their Meeting in Maui

Signature Travel Network CEO Alex Sharp:  "We recently held our annual owners meeting in Wailea and not only was it the right decision, but it led to the best meeting of our 67-year history. Doing the right thing always makes people feel good. For those attendees with initial hesitation that our event would distract from recovery efforts, all concerns were immediately put to rest as soon as they met local Maui residents, each of whom was there with open arms and gratitude for travelers returning to the island. Giving back to Maui gave our meeting purpose and the outpouring of gratitude lifted everyone’s spirits.”
