Maui Anesthesia Seminar
Maui Wildfire Updates
Updated July 15, 2024
We are grateful to the resilient and bighearted West Maui community for hosting an amazing Maui Anesthesia meeting this past winter! It was such a positive experience to be in Maui this winter despite the Lahaina fire. The locals at the Hyatt and elsewhere were genuinely friendly and ready to show appreciation for our being there. The environment and natural beauty were so lovely, we couldn't have imagined not being there! Plus realizing how much it helped the locals for us to be there made it feel really good, and our attendees were resoundingly very happy they decided to go. So, we can wholeheartedly say that you can feel great about going to West Maui and our meeting in 2025, and encouraging others to do so!
We are happy to report Ka'anapali Beach and the resorts there were unaffected by the wildfires, and the West Maui community and resorts have fully re-opened to guests and groups. We cannot overstate how much the locals need our tourist dollars to get by and rebuild. Locals told us the best way to support the community is just by coming on vacation to Maui and spending money on the island. While most of Lahaina town is closed for the foreseeable future, several restaurants, businesses and activities in Lahaina are open and welcoming visitors. The rest of West Maui and Kaanapali are untouched, with plenty of restaurants and activities to enjoy in the area and on the rest of Maui. Enjoy this special paradise and share some Aloha back to the West Maui community at the same time! While many displaced families have been moved from the hotels to other housing, it is possible that some will still be housed at the Hyatt (we really respect how they have looked after their employees!) It's important to get your lodging booked early, just in case availability is limited this year.

Quote from Group That Recently Held Their Meeting in Maui
Signature Travel Network CEO Alex Sharp: "We recently held our annual owners meeting in Wailea and not only was it the right decision, but it led to the best meeting of our 67-year history. Doing the right thing always makes people feel good. For those attendees with initial hesitation that our event would distract from recovery efforts, all concerns were immediately put to rest as soon as they met local Maui residents, each of whom was there with open arms and gratitude for travelers returning to the island. Giving back to Maui gave our meeting purpose and the outpouring of gratitude lifted everyone’s spirits.”
